The pronator quadratus muscle flap.
Traumatic injuries to the distal forearm present a challenging problem for soft tissue coverage. There is a need for a local flap to provide a vascularized soft tissue bed. This article demonstrates the anatomic basis that enables the pronator quadratus muscle potentially to fulfill these needs.
متن کاملAnomalous pronator quadratus muscle : a case report
The pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle is one of the deeper muscle of the front of the forearm which originates from the oblique ridge in the lower part of the anterior surface of the shaft of the ulna and its adjoining medial area. The muscle inserts into the lower part of the anterior surface of the radius. In the present study, we observed an anomalous PQ muscles on both sides of a 52yearold mal...
متن کاملReferred pain pattern of the pronator quadratus muscle.
Pain patterns of the myofascial trigger points (TrP) for most muscles of the forearm have been documented. However, there are no published reports on the referred pain patterns for the pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle. The purpose of this study was to determine the referred pain pattern of the TrP in the PQ. Thirty-five arms of 35 healthy adult volunteers with no history of neck pain, arm pain or...
متن کاملClinical study of the Pronator Quadratus muscle: anatomical features and feasibility of Pronator-Sparing Surgery
BACKGROUND No clinical data for the relationship of pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle to distal radius had been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the anatomical features of the PQ muscle related to plate osteosynthesis for distal radius fractures in clinical cases. The feasibility of PQ muscle sparing surgery was investigated as well. METHODS Fifty two distal radius fractures (2...
متن کاملAnatomic Characteristics of Pronator Quadratus Muscle: A Cadaver Study
OBJECTIVE To identify the anatomic characteristics of the pronator quadratus (PQ) muscle and the entry zone (EZ) of the anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) to this muscle by means of cadaver dissection. METHODS We examined the PQ muscle and AIN in 20 forearms from 10 fresh cadavers. After identifying the PQ muscle and the EZ of the AIN, we measured the distances from the midpoint (MidP) of the ...
